Intakhab (Selection) A Short Story by Yasmin Hashmi. “Oh mom! How many times, I told you I don’t want to get married yet”, Amir said to his mother. It has become a daily routine. Since the time he was appointed a manager in the international pharmaceutical company, his mother had started insisting on his marriage. His father died last year. After the first death anniversary of his father, four brothers of his mother, Fakhar un Nisa, who all had a daughter, started forcing Amir to get married. Amir didn’t want to marry to any of his uncle’s families. The main reason was that he couldn’t marry four girls at the same time and marrying only one meant bad for the others.
