Jaltarang A Short Story by Amna Nasir Hussain. The news of arrival of elder aunt’s elder son Sufian spread like a fire in the forest. Particularly the parents of some daughters got quite alert and all the girls started preparing as well, except Kiran, who has anticipated that he would bring some foreigner wife with him, or might have committed for marriage outside before returning to home here. So all the preparations of the girls will be useless. All the girls disliked this idea very much.
Like all mothers, the wish was also there in my mother’s heart that Kiran should get married to Sufian, but then she got hopeless realizing that Kiran was out right careless and quite open to speak without caring for others. Compromise was a word, unknown to her.
